How It Started(2012 -Present)
The beautiful building now known as Studio SKIN was formerly home to many different small businesses throughout the many decades of 1900. Some of them included a poodle shop, cigar parlor, taxi service, shoe cobbler, and several others throughout its historical footprint at 10 South Buffalo Street. It was an old vacant building when Jimmy Wasiela and Holly (Hutchings) Wasiela purchased it in 2012. When they first toured the building as investors and potential purchasers, they knew immediately there was a mountain of work ahead before anyone would envision the beautiful modern space it is now, over a decade later. As renovations commenced, several layers of history were in and on the old walls and rafters revealing personal traces of the many who had once been there. It was a true diamond in the rough needing true vision to believe it could shine bright like a diamond.
Jimmy (and Holly) worked on it through the years for months, weeks, days, and hours and Jimmy’s construction knowledge and commercial carpenter skills were tested until it was finished. The building was purchased as the future home of Studio SKIN and, as the saying goes, all the hard work eventually paid off. Mid 2021, the studio was finished and ready for business. While working on the building, Studio SKIN began as a sole proprietorship business in April 2014 by licensed Esthetician, Holly (Hutchings) Wasiela. Starting as a 1 room in the rear of the law office she worked for 5 years, then 2 years in the space above the current studio.
Holly’s primary focus on natural brow design and rejuvenating skincare treatments such as custom facials, professional-grade peels, and the world-renowned Hydrafacial with 20 years of hands-on experience sets her apart as a master of her craft. She is knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help those who come through the door. If walls could talk, surely many of the decades of former customers would have plenty of things to share about the cozy storefront and now many Studio SKIN guests are part of that rich history. There is definitely something humbling about sharing a space with history in such a special place like the heart of Hamburg.
Thank you for your support always, Holly Wasiela, Studio SKIN owner xo
